How a trip to Lancelin can recharge your batteries and fill the motivation tank

We all know too well that come January, everyone loves a fresh start and setting big new goals. Whether it be endeavouring to start new hobbies, deciding to get back into exercise, or applying for that dream job you’ve been wanting… whatever it may be, it’s important to start out on the right foot with a strong mindset.

Anddd… what better way to recharge the batteries and get motivated than with a lil vacay? After all, a change of scenery always does wonders for the mind.

Taking time to recharge allows you to replenish and return to the daily grind relaxed and ready to perform your best. Plus, the stronger your mindset, the stronger your ability to cope with the everyday hassles and challenges that life may throw at you!

So, if it’s been a while since you’ve taken a holiday, there’s no better time than the present to lock one in. Step away from the screen and place your focus on living in the moment.

If you need some inspo for location, we recommend checking out Lancelin 😉 Only 1.5 hours from Perth, it’s perfect for a weekend away or for escaping to the coast for a few days. Our homes immerse you in nature with their idyllic locations, only minutes from the ocean, the iconic sand dunes and WA’s stunning North West.

Spend your days kicking back on the beach, taking morning strolls along the coast, sipping on coffee, and enjoying a bevy at the pub or just doing absolutely nothing… because how often do you just sit and let your mind wander? No thinking about shopping lists, not scrolling through emails or checking your Facebook, not worrying about things to do, work and relationships. Just sitting and enjoying the peace and quiet.

If you feel like treating yourself to something extra special, choose one of our homes that feature some pretty epic views. Read your new book on the balcony while looking out to Lancelin Island, or perhaps you’d like to head to the alfresco and enjoy the serenity out back? There’s plenty of downtime for those things you never manage to find hours for at home.

Starting a new podcast? Lano could just be the perfect spot for that too. A quiet coastal town, with nothing but the ocean and the sound of waves crashing to inspire you and get the ideas rolling.

So, what are you waiting for? Sneak away and book in that time for your new passions and goals.

5 day trips you need to make when staying in Lancelin

Only 1.5 hours from Perth, Lancelin is the perfect coastal destination for a relaxed getaway by the beach. However, while there can be nothing better than days in the sun, swimming, sunbathing, surfing, fishing… taking a lil day trip out of town is just as special. After all, there’s so much to explore in WA’s stunning North West!

We have collated the top 5 day trips we recommend you make when staying with Lancelin Beach Breaks. Check them out below:

The Pinnacles, Cervantes

Take a short 40-minute drive north of Lano and you’ll arrive at the picturesque Nambung National Park, home to thousands of limestone pillars reaching up to 5m tall that are known as the Pinnacles.

You have the option to either drive or walk the Pinnacles Loop – a 4km look which is open all year round. Let the kids hop out and explore the natural wonders. Then, why not take a short drive to Hangover Bay for a dip in the ocean and a picnic lunch?

Or head to Cervantes town and dine in at the Lobster Shack. It’s a crowd fav, known for its waterfront views and delicious seafood!

Entry fee to the park is $15 per passenger vehicle. If you’re visiting in the Summer months, don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, and water!

Gravity Discovery Centre, Gingin

Do you enjoy looking at the stars? Perhaps you’re an avid space lover? If so, we suggest taking a day trip the Gravity Discovery Centre when staying in Lano!

As the premier science education centre in WA for Physics and Astronomy and a well-known tourism destination for families, it’s worth the 40-minute drive from Lancelin. Featured onsite is the famous Zadko Telescope, the Leaning Tower of Gingin, and an Observatory (which has a fully retractable roof!), offering visitors a truly unique astronomy experience.

If you head out later in the day, you can even undertake a special night visit of the Observatory where you’ll witness a one-of-kind view of WA’s night sky. Night visits run on select days from 7.30pm – 9.30pm and bookings are essential.

The Gravity Centre itself is also perfect for school holidays as they tend to run programs for the kids.

Sand Dunes, Lancelin

Who says a day trip must involve lots of driving? For most of our homes, Lancelin’s famous sand dunes are either on your doorstep or only a short walk away!

Trust us, a whole day can easily be spent on the dunes with all the fun to be had.

From 4wd driving, to off-road motor biking, to dune buggies, quad biking, and of course sand boarding – the opportunities are endless.

Plus, don’t worry about not having the gear as there are many adventure tours and hire places in town that have you covered.

Located on the corner of Beacon and Desert Roads, you’ll find MrXtreme Thrill Rides – one of the best hire places in town when it comes to sand boarding, quad bike hires or dune buggy tours. They’re all about experiencing the thrill of Lano’s huge sand dunes and even offer scenic buggy tours for families.

Jurien Bay

It may be a slightly lengthier drive, but if you’re up for it, Jurien Bay is only an hour north of our homes in Lancelin.

You can check out the jetty, grab a bite of lunch from the bakery and enjoy a snorkel at Sandy Cape. The ultimate family day out!

On your way home, make sure you leave enough time to stop in at Molah Hill where you can admire the uninterrupted views west to Jurien Bay Marine Park, spanning inland over Beekeepers Nature Reserve.

For the dare devils and the adventure seekers at heart, Jurien Bay is also renowned for its skydiving… hit up Skydive Jurien Bay and they’ll sort you out with incredible views and an extreme adrenaline rush.

Leseur National Park, Cervantes

For bush-walking lovers and wildflower admirers, Lesueur National Park is a must-visit when in Lano.

Home to over 900 plant species and 10% of WA’s known flora, the prime time to visit this beautiful site is the months of August – October where you can see the wide expanse of wildflowers in bloom.

There’s plenty of walk trails too. Whether it’s the 400m Botanical Path, the 1.8km Gairdner Trail, the 3.5km Lesueur Trail or the 26km Yonga Trail, there’s a trail for everyone no matter your fitness level or ability!

As for getting to the Park, simply follow Indian Ocean Drive to the entry point from Cockleshell Gully Rd. The road generally has good surface so it’s suitable for 2wd vehicles.
