Escaping from reality sounds like a good idea no matter what time of year? Doesn’t it. Regardless of the weather, we all need to take those extra days away from reality to reconnect with what matters most. Perhaps you need a little bit more convincing, so we’ve pulled together our top reasons why visiting Lancelin during the Winters a marvelous idea.
Never been to Lancelin? Or otherwise known as ‘Lano’
We’re located only 1.5 hours north of Perth, right beside the sea. Our charming seaside town hosts a great selection of top-rated restaurants and bars, stunning views of the Indian Ocean and activities for all of the family. All available, all year round!
Got little ones that need to blow off some steam at the local parks? We have a number of playgrounds sprinkled throughout town with shelters so you can keep dry if a rain shower happens to pass by. Harold Park features a playground, multiple shelters with BBQ’s and toilets. Wangaree Park in the centre of town has a great range of facilities, a playground, basketball court, picnic shelter, BBQ, water fountain and very popular skatepark perfect for spending quality time outdoors.
Ready for something for the big kids? Hello Lancelin Sand Dunes
Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you thrill-seekers. Perth Quad offers everything you need, from sand board hire to adrenaline-boosting tours – yes you heard us right. Head out to our iconic sand dunes whilst riding fast and furious style on one of their dune buggies, if it sounds like something you’d be interested in, click here to find out more.
Visiting outside of the peak tourist season also offers a few extra benefits!
By beating the crowds, you’ll be greeted with a far more relaxed atmosphere. You can soar down the dunes on your sandboard without fear of bumping into anyone, you can 4wd along the beach without dodging beach tents and sandcastles. And best all of for many you can fish in total serenity.
We’re trying not to brag here… but as the Winter season rolls in, so do the most picturesque sunsets that aren’t to be missed during your stay. Near dusk, we’d recommend taking a trip up to the Endeavour Tavern or Dunes Restaurant, with their beer gardens overlooking the horizon, grab a drink and watch the show begin. How are sunset’s better during the winter months you may ask? Well, the science behind it is a long story (and we’re not scientists) all you need to know is, low humidity + cleaner air = more intense colours. You’re welcome.
